WHATEVER WEDNESDAYS – Makeup Shopping in Hong Kong

Hi everyone,

Happy Chinese New Year! Hope you all celebrated and had a lovely vacation. We are back on track and have some exciting and new ideas for the blog, so watch this space in 2017.

I always get asked where to buy certain products in Hong Kong that are not readily available. There are two shops in Hong Kong that stock Kylie lip kits, Tarte, Sigma, Charlotte Tilbury, Real Techniques and as of recently Huda Beauty. The list goes on…

Also just to note – These shops don’t sell every single product of the makeup brands listed above, the stock is subject to change, so it’s best to follow their instagram account to see what’s available in advance.

(1) Dudes HK

They have an instagram page – dudes_hk and if you follow the account you get a discount on some of the products.

Address: 2/F, 51 Sharp Street East, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Address 2: 3/F, 3 Cameron Road, Tsimshatsui, Hong Kong

If you want to order a certain product, you can whatsapp the store +852 67783269 and they will quote you a price if they are able to get the product in.

WHATEVER WEDNESDAYS – summer favourites

Hey guys!

Divya and I thought we would do a summer favourites of all our favourite makeup, fashion, skincare, music, whatever!

Divya:

Song of the Summer: Drake – One dance

Skincare: Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Essence Treatment –  Recently, I have reincorporated this product back into my daily routine and I forgot how much I loved it. I have followed the guidelines of applying the product twice a day. I found the best time to apply this product is straight out of the shower. My skin feels silky, smoother and I feel like my skin looks more youthful.

Lipliner – Bobbi Brown Lipliner in Pale Pink  – In the summer, I found myself reaching for a lipliner that goes on effortlessly and takes less than 30 seconds to apply. This colour is beautiful, a soft pink and something that looks natural.

Eyeshadow Palette – The new edition to my eyeshadow collection is the Zoeva Nude Spectrum Palette (see my post here!) I love this palette, I’ve been wearing this palette since I got it.

Playsuit – I picked up this gorgeous black Zara playsuit back in early June, and I’ve worn, and reworn this outfit over again. For a night out, for drinks with friends and just when I’m lazy and can’t figure out what to wear.

iPhone 6 case – Moshi iGlaze Armour This phone case is so beautiful and safeguards my phone from the occasional falls. I love the simplicity of the design and that it looks smart.

Perfume – My go to Summer scent is the Marc Jacobs Eau so Fresh , it’s a glorious scent in a pretty bottle. If you like a floral scent, and something not too sweet, then this is the fragrance for you.

Sasha:

Sandals – oasis: I have worn these shoes out! I think I have worn them every single day of this summer since the day I got them. Considering how much I’ve abused them and over used them, they’re in pretty good condition. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants a comfortable and casual pair of sandals.

River island blush pink dress: this dress is such a life saver. Whenever I don’t know what to wear I wear this. It’s so casual, comfortable, flattering and fashionable all at the same time.

River island high heel shoes: these are amazing. I bought these at Selfridges shoe hall for £35 pounds, with a 5% discount on top. I think they look so beautiful and they were so inexpensive. Everyone needs these in their shoe

Benefit whatsapp highlighter: this highlighter has given me the most intense highlight all summer. I am so in love with how amazing this product  is. LOVE!

Maybelline  nudes pallet: this palette was so affordable! It has so many amazing colours and it’s so pigmented.

Drake – Controlla: I mean, need I say more? He is my all time favourite artist and my bae ❤ ❤ <3.

Hope you enjoyed it, please let us know your summer favourites!

WHATEVER WEDNESDAYS – Makeup starter kit

Hey guys! So we thought it would be interesting to put together a starter makeup kit on a budget of £30. We’ll go through and link/explain the items and why we chose things.

Sasha’s list:

Although it was extremely difficult to narrow down my shopping cart to the products I needed, I found that doubling up on the uses of some reduced my cost dramatically. I have a total of £29.50.

So I have very sensitive skin and almost anything will break me out. But I have tried the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer (£5) and I am obsessed. I think there’s excellent coverage and I like how it’s buildable. I’m not even going to lie, I have used this as a base for my makeup more than once before and it has lasted all day.

I would then use the Sleek Makeup Bronze Block (£7.50) to add definition and colour to my face. I have used a variety of sleek products before and I have never been disappointed with their products. From my experience, everything is super pigmented and it’s so affordable! I also love how this product is matte because it makes it more wearable on a daily basis. I would not only use the bronzers to contour my face, but I would also use the darkest shade to fill in my eyebrows, and maybe to line my lower waterline too. And if you’re an eyeshadow person (I am definitely not), you could try and use this to do either a soft pretty pink eye look or perhaps a smoky brown?

I don’t think a look can be complete without mascara. My all time favourite mascara is the Rimmel London Wonder’full Mascara (£8). I do think it is a little bit expensive for ‘drug store’ standards, but I definitely think this mascara gives you the length and curl you’re after.

Although I think you’d get great amount of volume and drama with the mascara, I sometimes think you need a little bit more to transform this look from day to night. So I highly recommend getting the Boots False Eyelashes Natural Volume (£4). They are affordable and you can re-use them multiple times before eventually throwing them away.

Finally, with the base of your makeup, contouring, blush, eyebrows, lower waterline and eyelashes done; it’s time for lips. I am a huge fan of jumbo lip pencils. Not only do they tend to stay on for longer on my lips, but they are extremely hydrating too. The NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil (£5) is a great starting place to find out which colours and shades you like before potentially spending more money buying those colours from more expensive brands.

Divya’s list:

This was a challenge indeed! I was calculating and recalculating the sum of the products and I have a grand total of £29.98, which is just marginally under the limit.

To begin, I would use L’Oreal Paris Nude Magique CC Cream Anti-Redness (£9.99). This is a product I use regularly and can’t get enough of. The CC Cream blends effortlessly into the skin and covers up my natural redness and generally evens out my skin tone. I wanted to ensure that my foundation/base was a product I use or have tried, because I think it’s so important to make sure your skin looks flawless and this product works extremely well with my dry skin.

For a contoured look, I would go for  Rimmel London Sculpting Palette by Kate #003 (£6.99) This bronzer looks like a dupe for my NARS Casino Bronzer. The highlighter and bronzer combination is exactly the colour palette I would go for. I would contour the hollows of my cheeks and highlight my cheekbones. I don’t think I would use the blusher to be honest, because I rarely use blusher anyway!

For eyeshadow, this new palette from Collection looks stunning. Collection #YourStyleYourMood Eye Shadow Palette (£3.99) I love the colours and pigmentation of these eyeshadows. I’m leaning towards using the colours on the left of the palette, especially the taupe, khaki and purple/brown. A quick swish of a shimmery taupe from the inner corner to the middle of my eyelids and the purple/brown colour in the outer crease. There are so many colour combinations to play with and it’s inexpensive.

I need to have my signature winged eyeliner. I’m a lover of the brand Seventeen and so I would go for the Seventeen High Drama Liquid Eyeliner – (£3.99)

Finally, a lipliner I regularly use is all that’s needed.  The Max Factor Color Elixir Lipliner in Brown N Nude (£4.99) is my all time favourite lipliner. It’s creamy and the perfect colour for an everyday look.

Question – What are your must have products if you were on a budget of £30?
